Q: What's Winamp?!
A: Winamp is a media player, similar to DivX player or Windows Media player. You can download it for free at Winamp.com.
Q: How do I use the skins?
A: To use the skin, download it first then put it in the Skins folder wherever your Winamp program is located. For example, typically in Windows XP, it will be located in My Computer > C Drive > Program Files > Winamp > Skins. After placing the file there, go to your winamp, right click anywhere on the player, and go to skins. You should be able to find it.
If you want to have your skins in a different folder, you must make sure your winamp knows which folder that is. Right click anywhere on winamp, go to skins and at the very top, Skin Browser. On the top right hand side is a button that says Skin Directory. Click on that button and choose which folder you want your skins to be in.
Q: I see this skin has two equalizer options. How do I install non-functioning equalier? (or functioning equalizer).
Simply downlod the file first. It should be a .wsz file. Rename the file to .zip. Unzip it, and you should find one file called eqmain.bmp and one called eqmain_2.bmp (or something similar). Whichever equalizer you want to use, name it eqmain.bmp. Then you can zip it back up if you like.
Q: Why is it that some screenshots of skins have transluscent visual bars or the song title bar moved to the top left corner?
When you download the skin, it won't look like that, usually. When you download it, it will look 'normal'. In order for you to have the skin look as it does in the preview, you need the Yunasoft Sexy Font plugin to move the text, and the Suicidal Machineers MARON plugin for transluscent visual bars. Then you will have to do a little file renaming similar to the "two equalizer options" instructions above (read the winamp skin's readme file for furthur instructions). However, if it's all too much work, don't worry, the skins work perfectly fine and look perfectly fine without the plugins as well.
Q: Hey, that image belongs to me and you used it on your skins!
A : If we did, we're really sorry - sometimes its hard to tell whether a picture is fanart/wallpaper if it's already been cropped by someone else. As well, sometimes people don't tell us where they got it from if they send us the picture. If that's the case, kindly tell us and we'll remove the skin from the site.
Q: I want to request a skin, can I do that?
A : We don't have actual requests anymore, but you are free to give us suggestions and ideas of what skins you want here. Sometimes there will be special "events" or perhaps quizzes that allow you to request skins (such as on valentine's Day, the first 7 skin requests were accepted).
Q: I downloaded a skin but I see something is wrong with it, should I tell you about it? / I can't download this skin! Can I inform you?
A: Please do! Simply e-mail us about it. Tell us which skin it is by giving us the skin ID and also stating what is it that is wrong with it.
Q: Why can't I find the (ex. shuffle button)?!
A: You probably notice on many of the skins, some buttons will be hidden. The most common ones we hide are balance, shuffle and repeat, mono/stereo and eq/pl. The reason being is that most of these options are also accessible by right clicking anywhere on the winamp skin, for example, shuffle can be reached by right clicking and choosing playing options. As well, we personally don't use those buttons much so we stick with right clicking =D.
Q: Who made which skin?
A: It's for us to know and you to find out =) Just kidding, it's in the readme file.
Q: How come you don't comment about your skins?
A: Oh, but we do! It's in the readme file, so when you are in the Skin Browser, there is a little box below that says 'skin information'. Our comments are in there! It just takes up less space on the site.
Q: Do you use a program to make yours skins?
Nope! All the skins here are made by us without any special programs such as skinner; we just use Adobe Photoshop and do it all 'by hand'. Plus it gives us a good feeling of satisfaction :D
Q: Are the AVS and MiniBrowser windows skinned?
Yup, AVS windows, Minibrowser, Video windows, Media Library windows are all skinned, with the exception of maybe one or two that aren't. Some of the skins even have WinLyrics window skinned (WinLyrics is a plugin by the way). All the skins have custom cursors as well, with the exception of perhaps one or two.
